Update and meringues

Day 3: tried to teach my mum basic latin steps, so I guess it counts as a mini workout?
Day 4: spent the day at the hospital and I basically did nothing as workouts lol tried to teach mum steps again
Day 5: didn't workout at all. Instead I tried to make coffee meringues and I underbaked them. So that was a fail hahaha

Today is Day 6 afternoon. I hope to do some workout today!

Speaking of meringues...I tried to make use of the oven more recently to bake! And also to make full use of the ingredient leftovers we bought, like trying to finish the corn flour by making cake flour out of plain flour etc.
The meringues yesterday turned out to be chewey and gooey even though I tried to salvage them by rebaking at 120C for 30 mins, and they couldn't pop off the baking sheet easily...They were stuck like glue! Unfortunately they were not liked by anyone (I'm fine with them though), cos' it was too sweet. Acquired taste I guess. To me, it tasted just fine and the crunchy parts were fine, but it was way too collapsey, gooey and chewey.

Lessons from yesterday's meringue failure:
1. Underbaked! Should have baked it at maybe 100C for 2 Hours. Took it out at 1 and 1/2, so might have been too early.
2. Pretty sure I mixed the egg whites right, so the ingredients shouldn't have been a problem...
3. Maybe the egg whites were a little under whipped. So they should be stiff stiff peaks next time (if ever)
4. The shapes that I piped were not consistent, heat did not distribute evenly maybe?
5. Not all the meringues were on a baking tray (oven too small)
6. Maybe a convection oven is just not the right choice hmm
7. Didn't make sure that all the sugar was dissolved completely, and this left holes in the end result.
8. Put in a bigger baking tray next time.

I hope to try again in the future with an oven of my own (in the apartment maybe?), since the fam did not like them at all hahaha

Now I feel like making Langue Du Chats! They seem pretty easy to make.
oh and an orange pound cake too!

I have a baking obsession now, just bake when I'm bored.
